The Basics of Stage Hypnosis

Presented by James Hazlerig, MA, CHP

Saturday, October 3rd, 9:00am to 5:30pm (8 CEUs for Hypnotists)

When you say you are a hypnotist, most people you meet will think of stage hypnosis. Even if you never plan to do a stage show yourself, every hypnotist needs to understand the ins and outs of this lucrative market, as well as grasping the useful skills that stage hypnosis teaches. In this comprehensive introduction, you will learn what make stage hypnosis work, how to put on a great show, and how to make money while having incredible fun. Several stage hypnotists' performances will be presented on video.

YOU WILL LEARN:

  • How to prepare for your act
  • Selection of Volunteers: How to solicit and select volunteers with mass suggestibility tests
  • Induction Techniques: How to keep your audience entertained while you hypnotize
  • Reliable Skits: Suggestions that are fun, reliable, memorable, and safe
  • Post-hypnotic Suggestions
  • Troubleshooting: How to deal with the three scariest situations stage hypnotists face
  • How to Make your First Show Happen
  • Ethical Considerations

James Hazlerig, MA, CHP, has been performing on stage for four decades, having toured internationally. He took his initial training in hypnosis from Kathy Moore in San Antonio; he is also a graduate and instructor for the Hypnosis Practitioner Training Institute. He is the co-author (with Richard Nongard) of a book about Ericksonian Hypnosis, and he is a veteran instructor at Anne King's Hypnosis Center. Though he spends most of his time in an office helping clients make changes, he also delights audiences as The Pirate Hypnotist. A dynamic speaker, he is known for making learning fun.
