THE PRACTICE OF MINDFULNESS:
LEARNING AND DEVELOPING THE SKILL
This series of experiential workshops is for everyone … from
beginners to seasoned meditators … adults and kids.
Meditation is the foundation for learning and developing the
skill of mindfulness. These lessons will guide you in training
your mind, controlling your thoughts, and thus, changing your
life in a positive and healthy way. Each lesson include a guided mindfulness meditation.
INTRODUCTION TO MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION:
We will discuss consciousness, conditioning, the nature
of the mind, the goal of mindfulness
practice, and how it can benefit you. We will practice some
simple meditative exercises using
breath, body scans, and thoughts to get you started. A
downloadable guided session is included
in this initial lesson.
MINDFULNESS AND SELF:
Self-awareness is the beginning of all change and can
provide powerful insight. You’ll learn to
take a moral inventory, look at your “flaws,” and strong
emotions such as anger from a
perspective of mindful attention without judgment.
MINDFULNESS AND OTHERS:
A lesson about acting with compassion, kindness, empathy,
and generosity. I will discuss the
power of our words and how it is possible to wish everyone
happiness and wellness.
MINDFULNESS IN OUR DAILY ACTIVITIES:
Learn how you can make the practice of mindfulness part
of your everyday life. We will discuss
utilizing mindfulness when walking, driving and eating (yes,
it can be a great tool for weight
loss).
PAIN, GRIEF, and OUR OWN MORTALITY:
The practice of mindfulness can decrease or eliminate
pain, be a comfort through any type of
loss, and help us be at peace with our own eventual death.
Perhaps the biggest benefit of
mindfulness is the change we experience in our perception of
death … which in turn, can change
our life forever.

Since mindfulness is a state of mind that can be applied
anytime and anywhere, it is easy to
